10 Minutes with the Front Desk Team
Welcome to our new series: Meet the Sundial Team. In each post of this series, we’ll introduce you to one of the many teams at Sundial who are dedicated to making your Sundial visit special. In our opening post, we’d like to introduce you to the smiling faces you’ll first meet upon your arrival-the Front Desk Team.
Where are you from?
Natalie, Front Desk Agent – I’m originally from Madison, WI, but I’ve lived on Sanibel the last five years.
Savannah, Front Desk Agent – I am originally from Detroit, but I’ve been in Fort Myers for about six years now.
Megan, Front Desk Agent) – I’m local! I grew up and still live in Fort Myers, FL.
Baily, Front Desk Agent – I’m originally from Texas but have been in the area now about one year.
Jacques, Assistant Front Desk Manager – I am originally from Haiti and came to Sanibel about six years ago.
What’s your background and how long have you been in the hospitality industry?
N. – I’ve been in hospitality on Sanibel and Captiva for the last three years and, before that, I worked in the food and beverage industry.
J. – I’ve been working in hospitality for about six years and this is definitely the career I belong in.
What drew you to Sundial?
S. – It was absolutely the friendly staff and super attentive management team!
M. – It was really Sanibel that drew me in, the lure of the island and its peacefulness and beautiful shells.
B. – The friendliness I experienced when I first visited the property was what sold me.
How would you describe what you do every day?
N. – Being a front desk agent, every question or issue is brought to you first. Every day we answer or solve whatever is brought to us, from a simple “How do I get to the beach?” to more complicated rooming or reservations question. Every day is different!
S. – I’d say the job description is simple, helping my guests have the best vacation possible every single day!
What is your favorite part of your job?
N. – I really love going above and beyond for our guests and seeing them having a great time!
S. – It has to be seeing how excited little kids are when they get here!
M. – I love getting to meet new people every day and, of course, just the atmosphere and the views from the hotel are amazing too.
What is your most memorable or meaningful experience with a guest?
S. – I was actually invited to a guest’s wedding just last year after working with her and her husband’s vacation plans for the two years previous. We still keep in touch and it’s really wonderful.
B. – I was working with a guest on her reservation and she would often call with questions. When she finally arrived for her vacation, she brought me macaroons as a thank you for my help with her vacation plans. It was such a sweet gesture!
J. – A newlywed couple was checking in and I surprised them with strawberries and champagne. I just really love that a simple surprise has the opportunity to make someone’s stay that much more special.
You get to meet everyone checking in- what was the furthest away anyone you have checked-in has come from?
N. – The guests who traveled the furthest were from Rome, Italy.
S. – I checked in a few guests from Tokyo, Japan. I think they win for the furthest away I have ever met.
M. – I once checked in a couple from Australia!
What can guests do ahead of time to make the check-in experience run more smoothly?
N. – Guests can arrive early and we will pre-check them in and they can enjoy the resort and its amenities, but the rooms are not ready until 4:00 pm
B. – You can drive right to your building/unit so no need to unload your luggage in the lobby area
J. – Remember your paperwork. It’s always good to have your confirmation.
