82nd Annual Sanibel Island Shell Festival
Next month, Sanibel Island will play host to the 82nd Annual Sanibel Island Shell Festival. The Shell Festival is a three day educational, entertaining and fundraising event where all proceeds go to support marine education and conservation organizations in the area as well as scholarship funds to the University of South Florida and Florida Gulf Coast University Departments of Marine & Ecological Science. Every year people from around the world visit Sanibel Island to experience the Shell Festival’s shell show, where you can find art, food vendors, shell tents, shell crafting, prizes and more. The Sanibel Shell Festival is the largest and most distinguished shell festival in North America.
See shells alive and in their natural state in the Live Tank. Amaze people with your artistic skills as you create your own shell design at the beach. Enjoy the sweet smell and taste of food as vendors cook in front of you. Expand your personal collection with shells on sale for as little as $.25 a piece in the shell tents. You can expect to see unique art displays, shells, and meet fellow shell enthusiasts who are just as fascinated by the festival as you!
