Employee Appreciation and Road to Reopening
Last month, the Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB) held its 23rd Annual Elaine McLaughlin Outstanding Hospitality Service Awards (E Awards) to honor tourism professionals and their extraordinary customer service and dedication. Sundial was both proud and honored to have 24 team members nominated across the eight categories.
(List of all Sundial nominees: Jader Alva, Jean Bruny, Pedro Clervil, Mike Davis, Asbel Etienne, Robyn Ford, Javier Giraldo, Chris Green, Nayidi Hernandez, Steve Herr, Dalien Herrera, Jean Janvier, Josh Jeffcott, Daniel Laurore, Kirk McElhinney, Ramon Medina, Becky Miller, Edel Morales, Joseph Paul, Melissa Quiros, Barbara Sample, James Thompson, John Travnik, Elmener Virgile)
In addition to those recognized by this year’s E-Awards, Sundial has a huge team that has continued to work behind the scenes to both support Sundial and our larger management family.
ON-SITE
Followers have spotted many of our team members who have been diligently working onsite at the resort to clear debris and prepare the resort for reopening. From removing what was left by the storm to helping the property take shape, this team has done it all.
SUNDIAL EXPANDED FAMILY
While their normal day-to-day work ceased when Hurricane Ian moved in, many of our team members have had the opportunity to temporarily relocate to other properties under Sundial’s management umbrella. We’ve had team members supporting DeRomos Gourmet Market & Restaurant in Bonita Springs and World Equestrian Center in Ocala. Others have traveled as far as Ohio and Arizona to support properties in those states, leaving home behind and temporarily living out of state.
RESERVATION CENTER
Our reservations team has been cheerfully working to handle all of our guest’s needs including navigating the road of cancellations and questions, while providing them with the most updated information. They have become our ‘command central’!
Our Fort Myers reservation center also graciously opened its doors to welcome some management team members who were formerly located at the resort office complex, rehoming them and assisting with office set-up and technical needs. While here, many of these team members have been able to expand their roles and take on new duties to fill the needs that arose following the storm and since.
We are so thankful to our management company for their continued support and for providing placements for so many of our team members during this transitional time. And, we are thankful for each and every one of our team members. Every day we look forward to when our team can once again be together at our beloved Sundial and we can reunite with those we haven’t seen for so long.
Almost one year in and we are thrilled to be seeing the horizon. Pickleball has reopened for members and visitors, and tennis is coming right up behind it. We expect to be reopening some of our restaurants before year’s end and are taking wedding and event bookings for 2024 and beyond. Although we are not yet taking room reservations, we promise to update you as soon as we are ready to accept guests. Make sure you’re following @sundialresort on social media and subscribe to our e-mail newsletter (located at the bottom of the linked page) so you don’t miss the big news.
Thank you for following along with us and continuing to send positive messages, comments, and hope our way. It’s been a long road and we look forward to welcoming you back to Sundial Beach Resort & Spa!
