Karen S. Recaps Her Staycation at Sundial

DATE: August 11, 2017

Ever since my family and I moved to Fort Myers 3 years ago, Sundial has become our home away from home. Anytime we are in need of a weekend away, we just take a quick drive over the bridge and check in at our favorite place, Sundial Beach Resort & Spa.

Our two children, ages 10 and 12, guide most of our Sundial stays. For them, it’s always a hard decision to choose between paddleboarding and kayaking or biking the trails around the island. The resort makes our lives so much easier by having this all available on site. The kids also really enjoy the activities with the Sanibel Sea School, learning about all the creatures, going on shelling adventures and even participating in Sea School Summer Camp this year.

However, some weekends we ship the kids off to grandma’s so my husband and I can have date nights at Shima and spa days at Kay Casperson Lifestyle Spa & Boutique. My husband loves a good pedicure but, shh, don’t tell anyone. It’s also lovely to wake up and get to enjoy breakfast on the balcony at Sea Breeze. It really is tough to beat a delicious meal with a view of the Gulf.

Speaking of waking up to enjoy a meal with a view, I have to gush about the rooms some. The condo layout makes it feel like we’re staying in our own private beach house. The beachy modern decorations and proximity to the water are just icing on the cake. We especially like having a full kitchen. The on-site Bailey’s Marketplace it easy for us to stock up for the weekend on all of our favorite snacks and treats. While we love dining at all of the restaurants on property, it’s nice to have the option of breakfast in your pajamas or whipping up a late night snack.

If you need proof that we are among Sundial’s biggest fans, just ask our friends! As soon as we discovered this treasure, we were dragging everyone with us to enjoy the fun. It was the tennis courts that actually cemented our friendship with our neighbors. Last year, we wanted to enter the Clay Court Championships and give doubles a try but couldn’t find anyone available to play with us. Turns out, our next door neighbors were into the sport and opted to join us for a tennis weekend. It was such a hit that we’ll all be doing it again this year when the championships are back in town in September. The next sport we plan to tackle is pickleball. The new courts look amazing and we’re all excited to learn a new game.

Needless to say, we’re in love with our Sundial staycations and will be having them as often as we can. Congrats Sundial on a well-deserved win for Best Staycation!
