Ken & Meg’s Intimate Island Wedding

Last month, Ken and Meg traveled to Sanibel with a small group of their loved ones to say ‘I do’ at Sundial. Their intimate island wedding included a ceremony on the beach and an outdoor reception and was the perfect celebration of their love. We caught up with Meg to find out a little more about their love story and their big day.

How did you meet? 

We worked at the same place and Ken lived down the street from my father.

How did he propose?

We were kayaking on the Wisconsin River with Ken’s family. After rescuing his niece and her boyfriend from drowning, Ken proposed on a sandbar island where we stopped to rest.

Describe your wedding style: 

Simple elegance.

What were some memorable moments from your wedding day?

My favorite moment was probably the look on Ken’s face when he saw me coming down the aisle. The funniest moment was when my granddaughter was running around the beach screeching in just her diaper during the ceremony.

Why did you choose Sundial as your wedding venue?

The venue is beautiful. Everyone is so friendly and accommodating and the beach was perfect for a wedding.

Absolutely!

Why?

The staff, especially Lavender, made sure everything was as perfect as it could be. The food was outstanding. The reception area was beautifully set up. The whole experience was like a fairytale. We were, and still are, on cloud nine.
