Stephanie and George’s Fun, Magical Wedding

When and how did you meet?
George and I met about 7 years ago at a Willie Nelson concert at Billy Bob’s Texas, the World’s Largest Honky Tonk. He asked me to dance and from then on, it was history.
What are three adjectives that your guests would use to describe your wedding?
Loving – George and I waited quite a while to get married, so when the day finally arrived, we were all so emotional. There were plenty of tears throughout the day and love everywhere.
Magical – It rained the entire wedding day right up until the ceremony and then it stopped! We all couldn’t believe the timing. It was truly magical.
Fun – Everyone was on the dance floor, there was a lot of drinking going on and good spirits all around.
Why did you decide to have the wedding at Sundial?
Sundial was perfect because there were so many different things to do for each age group and everything was right at the resort. We also fell in love with Tiffany because she made us feel special and was organized and on top of things. We felt at ease with our wedding in her hands.
How many other venues did you look at? What made Sundial the one?
We looked at a few different venues in the Texas Hill Country before we decided on Sanibel Island and then looked at two other resorts. Sanibel Island was so unique to us and we loved the small town feel it had. Sundial was very professional and we just knew it was going to be our place.
How did he propose?
The whole thing was a surprise and I walked into every step. He told me he was going to Chicago for a work trip and I asked if I could tag along. My Grandparents’ house is about a two-hour drive from Chicago to White Pigeon, Michigan, and my Aunt and Uncle just bought a house on the same lake. Our family has a long history on Klinger Lake, dating back at least 5 generations. I told him I wanted to go visit and show him my Grandparents’ house. While I was showing him around, we walked down to the lake. I asked my Uncle to take a picture of us and right as he was taking the photo, George got on his knee and popped the question.
After some tears and saying yes, I think I slapped his shoulder and said, “about time!”
What are some of your most memorable moments from being together?
My favorite moments with George are dancing in the Stockyards, traveling and exploring new places together and just growing as a couple throughout the different stages of our life.
What are some of your most memorable moments from the wedding?
One of my favorite moments from the wedding was when I was just about to walk down the aisle. The bridal party had just walked down and that moment of turning the corner with my Dad and passing the bushes and finally seeing George with all our family and friends together was so breathtaking.
Would you recommend Sundial to other couples? Why?
Yes, because everyone was so accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure our day went perfectly.
Do you have any funny stories from the wedding?
Grandma went exploring on her scooter and tried to find the beach. She got lost on the way back to her room and ended up on the wrong side of the resort. My dad received a call from the front desk saying they found her roaming around. Word spread quickly about Grandma’s adventure and soon everyone knew she got lost.
What are you looking forward to most about marriage?
I’m looking forward to buying a house and starting a family together and watching George’s business grow.
