Alyssa and Scott’s Elegant, Tropical Wedding

DATE: July 17, 2017

In May, we had the pleasure of hosting Alyssa and Scott, and their wonderful friends and family, for their “elegant tropical” wedding. Read on for Alyssa’s recap of their gorgeous garden affair. Congratulations again Alyssa and Scott!

When and how did you meet?

Our first date was on February 15th, the day after Valentine’s Day. He brought flowers and we met for brunch. The funny thing is, after our date I told my mom right away that I just met the man I’m going to marry. Two and a half years later we tied the knot!

What are three adjectives that your guests would use to describe your wedding?

Intimate, romantic, and family-centered

What was your wedding style?

I would describe my wedding style as intimate tropical elegance.

Why did you decide to have the wedding at Sundial?

The first thing I noticed about the Sundial was that the outdoor venue was gorgeous! The Sundial offered a variety of areas for the ceremony and reception. For the reception, I chose an area that I would describe as a garden overlooking the gulf.

How did he propose?

Scott blindfolded me and drove me to one of my favorite towns where we had dinner followed by a walk around a lake at sunset. Our walk ended at Princeton University’s campus where he surprised me by bending down on one knee and asking me to be his wife.

What are some of your most memorable moments from the wedding?

It’s hard to choose just one memorable moment from our wedding. I walked down the aisle to the hymn Be Thou My Vision played by the Vanderbilt Strings trio. My pastor of 25 years flew down to Florida to marry us. The moment was beautiful.

Do you have any funny stories from the wedding?

Scott and I each have three-year-old nephews. During our first dance, the boys wanted to join it, and our moment turned into a family dance with the kids and our entire family. It’s a moment I’ll never forget!
