Ashley and Justin Tie the Knot in Tropical Wedding
Perfect is the word that could be used to describe Justin and Ashley’s wedding, first dance and even the couple themselves!
Where are you from?
I’m originally from Michigan and Justin is from Kentucky. I recently made the move down here to Florida and we both live in Fort Myers now.
How did you meet?
I met Justin when I was 16 through my friend Megan, who just happens to be Justin’s cousin. Then, about 4 years ago I ran into Justin while spending time with Megan and from that visit he knew I was the one. We started dating long distance and a few years later I finally made the big move to the sunshine state.
How did he propose?
We were dancing in the kitchen and the song Perfect by Ed Sheeran came on. He started singing it to me and before I knew it he was asking me to marry him. Of course, I said yes!
Describe your wedding style.
Tropical. We just wanted to embrace the island feel with all of the different touches of décor we chose, from the invitations to the altar, it was the perfect tropical wedding.
What was the inspiration behind your dress? Behind your bridal party’s attire?
At first, I wanted something beachy and flowy, since we were getting married on the Gulf. In the end, what I ended up choosing was the complete opposite. As soon as I tried it on, I quickly fell in love with my gorgeous form-fitting dress, full of crystals and lace detailing, and knew it was the one.
Why did you decide to have the wedding at Sundial?
We fell in love with the beautiful beaches of Sanibel and its laidback feel. It’s only a 40-minute drive from our home but we always feel like we’ve been transported to a tropical island in the Caribbean.
Would you recommend Sundial to other couples? Why?
Yes! It’s a perfect destination especially if you have family coming in from out of town. While Justin and I are locals, many of our guests were visiting from out of state and Sundial provided the perfect home base for everyone. Our family and friends stayed at the resort and said it was the most fun they have ever had at a wedding!
What was your first dance song?
Perfect by Ed Sheeran. It was the song that we were dancing to when Justin proposed so there was really never any question that it would be our first dance song.
What advice would you give future brides thinking about tying the knot at Sundial?
Stop and appreciate the moment. During the ceremony our officiant had us take a moment to look around. Seeing all our family and friends support gave us an overwhelming feeling of love. It’s easy to get caught up in the moment and miss it.
