Christmas Shell Crafts
Christmas is right around the corner and we’re here to help! For your last minute stocking stuffers, holiday hostess gifts, teacher appreciation presents and everyone else on your list that needs a little something special, we’ve compiled our favorite shell crafts of the year! So break out your Sanibel shell collection and plug in your glue gun, it’s time to get crafting!
Shell Monograms
If you’ve been paying attention to some of this year’s hottest décor trends you might have noticed that monograms are in right now. These shell covered decorations are so easy and a great way to bring the beach home with you. All you need is a large cardboard or wooden letter of your choice from your local craft store, a pile of shells from your most recent trip to Sanibel and a glue gun. Lay out your shells first to find the best position for each one then just glue in place. Optional: you can break out some of your favorite ribbons and trimmings to glam up your project.
Sea Shell Coasters
This is the PERFECT craft for your collection of tiny coquina and shell shards! All you’ll need is a collection of tiny shells or pieces with 1-2 larger shells to feature per coaster, glue, resin and plain mason jar lids. Glue your feature shell(s) in place in your mason jar lids then fill around with your small shells and shards. Mix and pour in your resin and let set.
Shell Hair Pins
If you have little girls on your Christmas list this year, we recommend this simple but delightful craft. All you need are bobby pins, shells and some adhesive. Apply the glue and shell to the folded end of the pin and let dry. The recipients of these whimsical hair pins will love trying on their mermaid flair every day!
