High School Sweethearts’ Tropical Wedding
We loved playing host to Cali and Ryan on their big day. It was a trip with their families that inspired them to choose Sundial as the destination for their big tropical wedding day and we’re so glad they did!
How did you meet?
We are actually high school sweethearts!
What would be three adjectives you would use to describe your wedding?
Classy, Tropical and Unforgettable
What was the inspiration behind your dress? Behind your bridal party’s attire?
I was lucky and found my dress at my first bridal appointment! I actually walked into the appointment with a certain dress style in mind and walked out with the complete opposite. When I tried THE dress on I felt like a bride. The skirt is my favorite part of the dress! I loved how it flowed and I knew it would be perfect for a destination beach wedding. Also, when you hear stripes you think STRIPES, weird, but NO it’s a timeless dress with a twist! What they say is so true, you must go dress shopping with an open mind!
The bridal party’s attire: For the girls, I wanted a dress that complemented everyone’s body type. The illusion neckline sold me! I also wanted a material that was light and breathable. The color reminded me of the Gulf so, naturally, I loved it! For the boys, we wanted to keep it simple with a beachy vibe. The suspenders tied it all together. What you may not see are their socks. Each of the boys had a Star Wars character! It was a way to add a little fun and personality since Ryan is a huge Star Wars fan.
Why did you decide to have the wedding at Sundial?
We always wanted to have a beach wedding. Sanibel Island is a special place for us because it was the first vacation our families took together in 2015.
We knew our wedding would be a weekend event and wanted to create a carefree getaway for our guests.
Sundial was actually the FIRST place we looked at for our wedding venue. Since we were having the ceremony on the beach, we knew we wanted the reception to be inside but with the ability to go outside. I knew Sundial was the place when I walked onto the terrace off the Sundial Ballroom and IMMEDIATELY started to cry when I saw the Gulf views!
Honestly, Sundial is a one stop shop! It had everything we needed and wanted including the proximity to the beach, the resort amenities, the spa and the food. I’m thrilled we chose Sundial. Our expectations were exceeded and then some. The staff deserves a standing ovation. They were so accommodating from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out. The food for every event was AMAZING! I will recommend Sundial to anyone and everyone who asks!
Do you have any funny stories from the wedding or especially memorable moments?
What was so memorable was being able to have our families and closest friends in one place together. How often does that happen? We are so lucky to have such supportive family and friends! We can’t wait to visit Sundial again to create more memories together.
