From the moment Sunny first arrived on the island, he had the Christmas magic with him. We loved spending the last few weeks with this fearless explorer and seeing Sundial through fresh eyes. We’re all hoping Santa assigns him here with us again next year!
Sunny Arrives on Sanibel
After a long trek from the North Pole, and an even longer slog through busy holiday airport security, Sunny made it to our little island paradise.
Sunny Goes for a Ride
When Sunny arrived at Sundial, he hit the ground running, or actually pedaling. His first adventure was checking out the guest bikes and taking them for a little spin around the property.
Sunny Takes it all In
After he returned from his bike trip, Sunny took some time to take in the resort, his home for the next few weeks.
Sunny Dives In
When Sunny heard about the shell ornament blog we were working on, he got very excited. Elves are great at arts and crafts, you know. He dove right into the nearest shell pile to start collecting the materials for his first shell project.

Sunny was always watching and always listening and when he heard our events team talking about the big plans for New Year’s, he wanted to take part!
Sunny Goes for a Swing
When you have an elf around, they get into everything! Our Banquet and Events teams were setting up for a wedding and Sunny just had to try out the table décor for himself.
When we went looking for Sunny on this day, we didn’t expect to find him literally UP to something! On the Upside, he got a great view of the resort from his balloon perch.
Sunny Catches up with Santa
Our Breakfast with Santa event was such a fun day for our guests and visitors and especially Sunny! He had a blast catching up with the big bossman himself over pancakes and eggs.
Sunny Makes a New Friend
We had warned Sunny that not all animals were friendly but he just couldn’t be convinced. Turns out we were wrong and this good-natured gator let him go unharmed after a little playful tossing.
Sand Angels by Sunny
Honestly, Sunny was a little disappointed to discover that we would not be expecting the kind of White Christmas he was used to. However, once we showed him the beach, he felt right at home in the ‘warm snow’.
Sunny Says Goodbye
After 3 weeks of fun and adventure, Sunny took a little time on his last day to reflect on all of the new friends, new adventures and new fun he had experienced on his trip.
