Tracy and Keith Tie the Knot at Sundial

DATE: April 19, 2018

Tracy and Keith chose Sundial for their super fun and intimate island wedding. We were so pleased to play host to this lovely couple and their friends and family. We wish you many happy years together!

Relationship:

Where are you from?

We’re both originally from the Milwaukee, WI area and currently living about 40 minutes west of Milwaukee in Lake Country.

How did you meet?

Keith’s daughter was to sing at a fundraiser for school at a wine bar in town, so he volunteered to help out. At the last minute, she had to cancel but Keith was still committed to be there. I happened to come to the benefit as well, to see a friend’s daughter perform. Keith and I saw each other, he bought me a glass of wine and the rest is history!

How did he propose?

On a Friday night in July, Keith suggested that we go out for a simple dinner at a place nearby, conveniently located across the street from the wine bar where we met. My sons asked to join us, but Keith politely declined. We had a nice dinner and afterward, Keith suggested we go across the street to the wine bar. When we walked in, it was empty except for 2 old guys at the bar. As it was pretty dead, I wasn’t too sure if I wanted to stay, but Keith insisted. During our first glass of wine, Keith proposed, giving me a wax model of the ring he designed. I said yes! After seeing what happened, the two old guys bought us a nice bottle of wine that we shared before we left.

Wedding style:

What are three adjectives that your guests would use to describe your wedding?

I think all of our guests would describe our wedding day as fun, fun and fun.

Where did you pull inspiration?

We wanted simple. We were more about being with our family and friends than an elaborate event. As neither of us had ever been to Sanibel before, we got suggestions from a few friends who have family there, which is how we ultimately decided on Sundial. For the ceremony, we relied on Tiffany and our officiant for advice.

What were some of your favorite wedding details? How did you come up with them?

I couldn’t pick just one just so here are a couple of our favorite details from our big day!

  • We loved having the ceremony on the beach and were blessed with such perfect weather.
  • I absolutely LOVED my flowers from Floral Artistry and the extras in my hair, to coordinate with my bouquet, were the perfect touch.
  • Having Keith’s daughter and my sister sing for us during the ceremony was so special.
  • We had everyone gather around us closely when we exchanged rings and it just felt perfect. Having our close family and friends there to share the day with us was so important and we could really feel their presence in that moment.
  • We also really enjoyed the sand ceremony, a suggestion by Tiffany.
  • The best part was just how relaxed the whole event was. We both felt very at ease throughout the whole process.

Venue:

Would you recommend Sundial to other couples? Why?

Yes, we would absolutely recommend it. Tiffany was great and very helpful all through the process. The resort was really nice and, without exception, the resort staff helped with anything we needed. The venue was great (we had a beach setup for the ceremony and then went up to the terrace where we had lunch). The whole weekend was awesome and more affordable than some of the other options on the island.

Wedding:

Any big surprises on your big day?

No big surprises. Considering that neither of us had ever been to Sanibel or Sundial, we were pleasantly surprised that the whole day went off without a hitch. Thank goodness for the advice and experience of our wedding coordinator Tiffany.

What was your first dance song?

“Dance with Me” by Phillip Phillips

Post-wedding:

What advice would you give future brides thinking about tying the knot at Sundial?

We would encourage them to investigate Sundial! They are so accommodating and have everything you need to make your day how you want it. The most important thing is being able to relax and enjoy your day when it arrives after all of the planning! We were certainly able to truly enjoy every moment of the day with each other, our family and friends.
