Winter Skincare Tips from Kay Casperson Lifestyle Spa & Boutique

DATE: February 5, 2018

Winter is here and the harsh weather can cause dryness.  Follow these tips to revamp your regular skincare routine and use products that help to eradicate dryness and keep your skin healthy and fresh this winter.

Drink More Water

We tend to drink less water in the winter because we turn to hot drinks like cocoa and tea, but don’t forget that your skin needs hydration from the inside, out. A little warm water with lemon can be very refreshing and hydrating at the same time if you are looking for a warm alternative. Increasing your water intake to about two times your normal consumption is a great way to start warding off unwanted dry and irritated skin.

Shift Into Moisture

Replenish your dry skin by using an intensely hydrating moisturizer that goes deeper than just the surface. We recommend Kay’s Replenish Moisturizer. It is a breakthrough in anti-aging hydration therapy engineered for use both during the day and night. It is formulated with soothing aloe, nutrient-rich blue-green algae, SeaRose, Nectapure, and Phyto-Moisture which all help to hydrate, heal, and protect the skin on a cellular level.

Exfoliate

We often forget to help the skin slough off dead cells in the winter. Yet moisture can’t get in if the dead cells are too plentiful. Finding a good exfoliant for your face and body is essential during the drier months. You should look for a scrub that is gentle enough for your face but can double on your body as well. Kay’s Refine is made of refined sea salt and jojoba oil to not only help buff away any dull unwanted skin, but also to infuse moisture into the cells. Exfoliating 2 times a week during the winter months is recommended.

Use Lukewarm Water for your Shower

Hot showers and baths always feel good in the winter, but when you can, particularly when just washing your face or hands, choose lukewarm water to avoid stripping as many oils away from the skin. Hot steamy showers are extremely damaging for your skin and can cause it to dry out completely. Applying moisturizers on damp skin immediately following a shower or face wash application will help the products to more deeply penetrate the layers of the skin.

Don’t Skip the Wrinkle Treatment

Although dry skin tends to not breakout as easily, it does create fine lines at a much faster pace. Renew your skin by using a thicker moisturizer that helps to prevent and treat fine lines and wrinkles. We recommend Kay’s Renew Smoothing Cream. It topically targets and visibly reduces the depth of fine lines and wrinkles. Formulated with Snap-8, soluble collagen, and nourishing orange and meadowfoam seed oils, Kay’s Smoothing Cream delivers nutritive, rejuvenating ingredients deep into skin cells to help inhibit free-radicals, plump up fine lines, reduce the signs of aging and leave the skin moisturized and youthful.
