July 4th on Sanibel Island is ALWAYS a good time and this year is shaping up to be truly historic as the entire country celebrates America’s milestone 250th birthday! Here at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, we are rolling out the red, white, and BEACH carpet to make sure your holiday weekend is packed with sunshine, smiles, and unforgettable family memories.

Sundial’s Red, White & Beach Summer

Sundial’s Red, White & Beach Summer continues and ups the ante just in time for Independence Day! In addition to our summer events line-up, we have a few extra special treats we’re introducing just for the holiday weekend:

  • The Giant Inflatable Slide: Take a break from the sand and cool off on our massive inflatable water slide, set up right by the pool deck. It’s guaranteed to be a huge hit for kids (and kids at heart) looking to make a big splash on the 4th.
  • Live Caricature Artist: Want a unique keepsake to remember your July 4th getaway? We will have a professional caricature artist on-site on the holiday to sketch fun, whimsical portraits of you and your family.
  • Poolside Tiki Vibes: Grab a spot at Turtle’s Tiki Bar for tropical holiday drink specials, fresh coastal baskets, and patriotic tunes playing all afternoon long.

Classic Sanibel Traditions

If you want to step off-property and experience the charming, small-town Americana spirit of Sanibel Island, the community has a fantastic schedule of events lined up for Saturday, July 4th:

  • The Annual Pancake Breakfast (7:00 AM – 9:00 AM): Fuel up for a massive day of celebration at the Sanibel Community Church on Periwinkle Way, serving up fresh-off-the-griddle pancakes and local fellowship.
  • The Sanibel Independence Day Parade (9:00 AM): Find a shaded spot along Periwinkle Way to cheer on the island’s most patriotic spectacle. Locals and businesses pull out all the stops, driving creatively decorated floats, golf carts, and classic cars down the road while handing out candy and flags.
  • Stars, Stripes & Sanibel Community Celebration (11:00 AM – 2:00 PM): Head to the Sanibel Recreation Center for an afternoon of true holiday fun, featuring an epic water balloon fight with the Sanibel Fire District, inflatables, and the annual Apple Pie Baking Contest!

The Grand Finale: Fireworks

You can’t have the 4th of July without a spectacular light show! As the sun goes down, the celebration shifts to the shoreline for the official City of Sanibel Fourth of July Fireworks.

  • When: The big show kicks off right after dark, around 9:00 PM.
  • Where They Launch: The fireworks are launched from the north end of Bailey Road on the bay side of the island.
  • Where to Watch: The reflection of the fireworks dancing across San Carlos Bay is absolutely majestic. For the best views, grab your beach chairs early and head down to the Sanibel Causeway islands or local bayside beaches. Guests at Sundial will be able to catch the show from our shores as the fireworks soar into the sky and become visible over the palms.
