Beach Bucket Cleanup
At Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, we are proud to announce a major milestone in our commitment to sustainability: our partnership with the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF) to host the very first Beach Bucket Station at a hospitality location!
We firmly believe that the unparalleled natural beauty of Sanibel is the core of the guest experience, and we are leading the way as SCCF’s inaugural resort partner to integrate this essential conservation program directly into our beachfront operations.
The Program
The SCCF Beach Bucket Station program, launched in 2022, is a brilliant, self-service way for every beachgoer to become a conservationist. It’s a simple, family-friendly concept: guests can grab a designated bucket, collect any marine debris they find while enjoying the beach, and drop the filled bucket back at the station. It’s an effortless activity that empowers our visitors and residents to reduce pollution without the need for a formal cleanup event.
The Impact
This project is vital because the beloved barrier island beaches, coastal wildlife, and water quality that define the Sanibel experience face constant threats from single-use plastics and debris. By hosting a Beach Bucket Station, we are taking direct action to:
- Reduce marine trash on our beautiful shores.
- Educate our visitors about the tangible impacts of plastic on coastal wildlife and water health.
We want our guests and the entire tourism community to see that sustainability is integral to the Sanibel experience. We are asking people to care because this island is their island, even if only for a week.
The Beach Bucket Station inspires a crucial stewardship ethic, empowering you to move from simply enjoying paradise to actively protecting it. Every piece of plastic collected is a direct investment in the health and beauty of the habitats you love.
We hope our early commitment encourages every guest to grab a bucket and join the cause, and we hope more businesses will participate because we must all join forces with the SCCF to preserve Sanibel’s future.
