DATE: May 31, 2016

Yoga is about balance: Whether it’s physical balance during poses or the mental balance that yoga’s meditative effects bring. Break out of the studio and imagine the benefits to your chakra with yoga on the beach.

Now, you can do your “sun salutation” poses under the morning sun at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa. Sundial guests are invited to start their day with an invigorating yoga session on our beaches overlooking the Gulf of Mexico.

Certified yoga instructor Lindsey Zimmerman guides you through these eye-opening classes every Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Enjoy mornings on the beach as you reach for enlightenment all while the ocean waves lap at the shore and the sea breeze blows through your hair. Cost is only $10 per session.

Lindsey is a registered yoga teacher with hundreds of hours of training and teaching experience.

“In my teaching, I strive to help my students feel successful whether they are taking their first or 500th class. My goal is to encourage students to connect with themselves on a deeper level, cultivating a sense of peace and joy that they can carry off the mat and into their daily lives,” she said.

What’s In It For You?

While yoga is a spiritually-based practice in the East, the Western variety has focused more on the health aspects. Yoga has several health benefits, including increased flexibility, muscle strength and tone. It promotes cardiovascular and circulatory health and weight loss.

Yoga also forces the mind to calm as you focus on poses and concentrate on breathing. Stress falls away, and tension in your muscles disappears leaving you with a sense of contentment.
