Island Hobbies To Try
During your next stay at Sundial Beach Resort & Spa, we encourage you to embrace Sanibel Island like an ‘islander’ by trying different local hobbies, enjoyed by island natives and repeat visitors. The Sundial Activities Department offers resort guests the opportunity to try different activities loved by locals without leaving the property. Whether you enjoy active or leisurely hobbies, there is something for everyone to try! Check out a few local hobbies to try, below.
Paddle Boarding
If you want to explore the island on the water like a local, try hopping atop one of our NEW paddle boards. This is a great physical activity for all ages. Parents, you can even tow your little one as you explore the Gulf. You never know what creatures you might see or treasures you might find paddle boarding along the shores of Sanibel. You might even find a starfish or sand dollar to grab as a souvenir! All guests have complimentary access to our collection of paddle boards located at the Activities Hut. For questions, concerns or tips on technique, just ask one of our expert Activities Team Members!
Kayaking
Another way to explore the island from the Gulf — kayaking! If you are intimidated by the standing that paddle boarding requires, just take a seat in one of Sundial’s kayaks, instead. Sundial guests have complimentary access to both one-and-two-seater kayaks as an amenity to enjoy during their stay. For questions, concerns or tips on technique, just ask one of our expert Activities Team Members!
Shelling
New York City is known for its architectural skyscrapers, Nasheville is known as a haven for music, but on Sanibel Island, seashells are our thing! In fact, there are over 250 species of seashells poured along the Sanibel shoreline, making it one of the top destinations in the country for shelling. For seashell lovers, repeat visitors and local islanders, collecting all 250 is a goal sought by many. Start your own go at collecting all 250 during your next stay! If you have any questions about shelling spots on the island or the particular species of a shell, just ask us! And don’t forget to share pictures of your shell collection on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ and Pinterest at hashtag #SundialResort!
Bicycling
Why drive a car when you can enjoy Sanibel Island’s quaint size, tropical surroundings and laid back atmosphere along miles of bicycling paths? In November 2014, Sanibel Island was even recognized by the League of American Bicyclist City as a “Silver” Bicycle Friendly Community (BFBSM).For the convenience of our guests, we have bicycles of various types onsite for guests to access, including:
- Two-seater Bikes
- Childrens’ Bikes with Training Wheels
- Multi-Seat Surreys
Offering bicycles as a complimentary amenity to our guests makes it easier for them to enjoy Sanibel’s safe, wide and paved bicycling paths right from the resort!
